Oberleutnant Turzig was a German officer who served under Hauptmann Skoda on Navarone during World War II. He and his men captured Keith Mallory's group thanks to being tipped off by the traitor Panayis. He recognized Mallory as the world famous "Human Fly," and wished they'd met under different circumstances, as he admired Mallory's climbing abilities. A kind and moral man, Turzig treated his prisoners fairly and objected to his superior's torturing of the wounded and dying Andrew Stevens. After Skoda's death, Turzig was taken prisoner, but was spared because of the kindness he'd shown the captives, even when he refused to give Mallory information.
